Who we are
MM Detailing (Max Murdock, “we”) is responsible for your personal information. You can contact us about it at Majm15106@gmail.com or 224D Shore Road, Greenisland, Carrickfergus BT38 8TX.
What we collect and why
- Order and contact details (name, email, phone, delivery and billing address, and the items you order). We use these to process and deliver your order, send order updates, handle returns and give support. Lawful basis: contract, including steps you ask us to take before a contract.
- Payment information. Payments are handled by Shopify Payments. We do not store full card numbers. We keep a record of each transaction for our accounts. Lawful basis: contract and legal obligation (accounting and tax).
- Customer account details. We use these to let you log in, view past orders and check out faster. Lawful basis: contract.
- Messages and enquiries (forms, email, phone, social media, messaging apps). We use these to reply and to keep a record of what was agreed. Lawful basis: contract or legitimate interests.
- Reviews. Customers leave reviews on our Facebook page. Your review and the name on your profile are public on Facebook, and Facebook’s own privacy policy applies to what you share there.
- Website information (cookies, device and browser details, pages viewed). We use these to run and secure the site, prevent fraud and understand how it is used. Lawful basis: legitimate interests for essential cookies, and consent for optional ones.
Who we share it with
We share information only where needed, with:
- Shopify, which runs our online store and provides our website analytics, and our payment providers.
- Couriers and delivery partners, so they can deliver your order.
- Google (Gmail), which we use to send and receive emails.
- Our accountant or bookkeeper.
- Our legal advisers or insurer if there is a dispute or claim.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
These providers act on our instructions or have their own legal duties. We do not sell your personal information.
Transfers outside the UK
Some of our providers, including Shopify, may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK law requires, such as adequacy regulations or approved contract terms. Contact us if you want more detail.
Shopify
Shopify hosts our online store. It collects and processes information about how you use the store in order to provide and improve it. For some features, Shopify is responsible for its own use of your information, and you can find out how it uses it, and exercise your rights, in Shopify’s Consumer Privacy Policy at privacy.shopify.com.
Children
Our website is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and think your child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.
How long we keep it
- Order and customer records: 6 years from the order date, because they form our VAT and tax records.
- Accounting records such as invoices and payments: 6 years, as tax and VAT rules require.
- Enquiries that do not become orders: 12 months.
- Customer accounts: until you ask us to delete the account. Order records are kept as described above.
- Reviews: left on Facebook, where Facebook’s own policy decides how long they are kept.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, erase it, restrict how we use it, or move it to another provider. You can also object to how we use it, and where we rely on your consent you can withdraw it at any time. Some rights depend on the lawful basis we use. To use any of them, contact us at Majm15106@gmail.com. We do not use automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies, which are small files stored on your device when you visit. Strictly necessary cookies, such as those that keep items in your basket and keep checkout secure, do not need your consent. We also use optional cookies for website analytics through Shopify, to understand how visitors use our site. We only set these with your consent, which we ask for through our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your information, contact us first at Majm15106@gmail.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond without undue delay. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
